The North Sea

Looking into the barrel of the North Sea. The wind promising to pick up to a wild freezing blast tomorrow.

I met a woman on the cliff who told me about her groynes. Apparently they are being replaced at Kingsdown and her house sits practically in the sea. She thought there would be some good photos to be taken.

I met a chap who was off to see 'the woman with her cameras' - a particularly difficult new arrival in the village who has put up fences, 'no parking' signs and CCTV cameras. All of which is causing much distress.

And then Mr PineEdge and his dog Ted.

Down in the Bay two egrets flapped passed - probably on their way from Dungeness to the Thames Estuary. They looked to big for Cattle Egrets.  The gas boys had packed in early. Don't blame them.

I brought a nice piece of plastic piping home. Washed along the coast from the site of the Egretta - a beautiful 1950s yacht that was wrecked a few years back. You can never have too many sorts of old plastic piping hanging around in the shed.

I've slipped in a photo of John. The light falling on his face was lovely. I tried to get him to smile and he went from mournful and monumental to sly in the blink of an iPhone. You'd not think he was 94.

Happy weekend.
