Panorama from Rushmore Hill, Wotton under Edge
Ok, today it may be worth going large, although in truth I could have worked harder at stitching this panorama together.
Taken this morning on a very, very windy but sunny day from the top of Rushmore Hill near Wotton Under Edge, Gloucestershire, we're looking west-north-west toward Wales, Brecon and the Black Mountains - which today are white! Winter is coming!
Looking into the middle distance, you can see the beautiful, sinuous river Severn. To the left of the picture stands the Tyndall Monument - erected in remembrance of the fellow who translated the bible into English, and who was later convicted of heresy and strangled and burned at the stake for his pains. To the right the sloping side of Uley Bury, an iron age hill fort (where we took our morning perambulation a little earlier).
This is probably Happy_Janwen's favourite view, and it is certainly one of mine. We live in a fabulous landscape, and on autumn days like today it's obvious why we love it.
