Sleepover on The Southbank
Up early for a train to London. Final push of the week. Spent the afternoon in a client's offices having meetings. Was flagging as 6pm rolled round. Couldn't concentrate as had been out a few times this week.
Had dinner with a very good friend Suzy on the South Bank. We were totally engrossed in conversation and didn't notice the fact that Suzy's bag had been liberated on our walk back along the front of the Thames to my hotel bar. Talk about ruining the evening! At first we couldn't work out where it had gone so we retraced our steps in the hail and sleet (brrrrr). It was only when we had checked both locations that it became clear.
I did recall two guys who had walked really close to us in the crowds of tourists ambling their way past the fairground and front. They must have been pretty good though as neither of us felt anything. Poor Suzy was heartbroken - her purse, phone, everything - gone!
I offered to lend her money to get home but more bad luck - we got the train times wrong so she had to turnround at Waterloo and come back.
Luckily I had a family room at the hotel booked so we turned it into a girlie sleepover. The hotel were wonderful too, upon finding out what had happened - they sent extra toiletries, bedding, complimentary tea and cookies up.
We chatted for a few hours and put the world to rights. A nice surprise sleepover after a horrible situation....
