Snow , Death and Country Roads

We were up early today as we travelled to London, Ont. this morning to visit a friend and attend a couple of church bazaars in the London, Stratford area. A day to look forward to and enjoy. We met our friend and enjoyed the first bazaar, visited a few favourite places in London where we used to live for 10 years. We left our friend and then headed to Stratford for another bazaar and it went all downhill from there. We were leaving London on a road we had traveled so many times before when a deer jumped in front of our car. We tried to avoid it but that was not to be. She hit the front and slid over the top and onto the road, I guess we were lucky she did not come through the windshield. She was a young female doe all by herself. There had been a deep ditch beside the 2 lane highway and she just jumped out onto the highway. We were both shaken and so sadden this had happened. Edward moved the dead deer to the side of the road while we waited for the police to arrive. The police took the report and the insurance company was notified. We were also lucky to be able to drive the car away. Two people had stopped for the deer carcass and one took it away. We had never hit anything before and felt so bad.I had just gotten the snow tires on the car the day before. The car will have to go into the shop for front end repairs next week. I have always look for deer beside the highway when we travel hoping to see some in the fields ....now I hope we never see them near the highway ever again. I know her death was quick but I feel so bad to see such a beautiful animal die. A very Sad and upsetting day.
