Scales Tarn

"A route to commend heartily to one's worst enemy"  - So wrote Alfred Wainwright about one of the ascents of Blencathra.  Thankfully,  we took a different route today via Scales Tarn.

The Mountain Weather Information Service forecast a 90% chance of cloudless tops with clear views.  Unfortunately that means a 10% chance of whiteout which is what we had.  It was bitterly cold with a strong easterly wind so we were glad to get down.

I took this with my 5D and the little plastic 50mm prime lens.  It never ceases to amaze me how sharp this cheap lens is.  It's a lot easier to carry up fells too!  You need to view it large to appreciate the sharpness.

I have put another view from just below the cloud in my extras
