Nearly there

Driving over to Aberlady this afternoon and stopped off for a "stiff climb" as it's described in the local history book up Byres Hill and to the Hopetoun Monument at the top.

It certainly is a a stiff climb and well worth it for the wonderful panoramic view of the coastline and the surrounding countryside.

The monument was built in 1824 in memory of Sir John Hope, the Earl of Hopetoun, by his "affectionate and grateful tenantry".

After the usual helter skelter charge down any steep hill it was over to Aberlady for the guys to see their Nan in action selling her wares at the Craft Fair and then tea and ginger cake - a suitable reward!
