Royal Albatross, Tairoa Head, Dunedin.

I love these birds. They fly the nest once they're old enough, and spend five years down in the wild and lonely southern ocean before returning here to find a mate and make little albatrosses. They're one of the toughest and most beautiful animals I know. An adult's head is the size of yours, and standing, they're eye level with your waist. Yet they're incredibly gentle. And thus sadly very vulnerable to vandals and egg thieves.

Quite chuffed with this point and shoot effort.
