Gingerbread Houses and Mint Leaf Trees

A cold front blew in from the north this morning and the rain turned to snow. We drove up the mountain to the Weinebene, a local ski field, to indulge my delight at finally seeing snow this season. In a couple of hours it had turned greens to white - yesterday it was 16 degrees in this area. Today it was -4°. Actually, we stopped short of the ski field as the snow was turning to ice. We have winter tyres on but we thought we would soon be needing chains, which we didn't bring with us. A few hoons had also stopped where we did and were having fun sliding their cars around in the ice so we headed down the mountain to safety and a warming glass of red.
