Mystery Moth

This morning's adventure involved finding this creature on the barbecue cover. It kept perfectly still while I moved the plastic around and stuck the camera in its little furry face. Then it kind of shook itself awake, had a nice pee, and flew away so fast I didn't see where it went.

I think it's a moth rather than a butterfly, but I find it difficult to match things up with the photos in the guides. So far I see that the antenna do not have little clubs on the end and the wings are held flat--moth signs. It's most striking feature is the complicated little helmet on its head, but I don't see a picture of that anywhere.
