Smoke Tree*

Santa Rosa is a city of many wide tree lined streets, and the blue sky was a good backdrop for the blazing autumn colors, so I decided to capture as many of them as possible today since the weather is supposed to turn much colder tomorrow. My favorite tree is the Chinese Pistache, a member of the cashew family, with  leaves ranging from brilliant red to golden yellow. When the entire coat of leaves has fallen off,  the bare branches of the female trees are accessorized with large bunches of peppercorn sized  seeds One street I travel almost daily is lined with tall trees with dark bark draped with yellow leaves. There is a single very large gingko tree now carpeted a glowing yellow. The vines and the maples are a more burgundy shade of red.

I was happy for a nice long walk this morning  because this afternoon we spent hours with a computer guy getting our new email sorted out. Between us OilMan and I have three laptops and two phones and each one seemed to have it's own demands. It wasn't easy, but I think we solved everything except changing the email address with Blipfoto. Has anyone managed to do this now that nobody seems to be home there?

f you are on my Blipfoto email list, you should get a very cryptic note from me  (Jennie A) with the new gmail address. What ever happened to the good old telephone book? or the phone message that said, "this number has been changed/disconnected. The new number is…."

It's funny that Apple stores all look about the same, with huge glass windows, glaring white interiors and streamlined tables around which the blue shirted 'geniuses' hover, but this office, in a business park rather than a shopping mall, contained a number of mismatched desks behind a screen , several bicycles leaning against them, a decidedly decrepit sagging faux leather couch, a very old pinball machine and an 1895 map of Santa Rosa on the wall. Definitely early bachelor…

Comments may be suspended for a few days while I recover from my computer generated headache and plow into readying the house and the kitchen for our family who begin arriving tomorrow evening.

*It was the light through the leaves that sold me on this branch of Cotinus, or smoke tree, which is closely related to sumac.
