Book Week

This is the 2015 Book Week and to mark the occasion my blip shows part of the Dower House eclectic mix of books in His Lordship's study.

Here Delia rubs shoulders with Beethoven, the Church of Scotland Hymn book and Peter May, not forgetting my six Blipfoto books
( unfortunately no more it would seem).

There is no order in the filing system, which would horrify my friend-of -many- talents, an erstwhile librarian; rather it is constrained by book height and the desire to contain HL's war library to one section and prevent yet another history book encroaching on my space.

There are many other collections of books dotted around the flat, on shelves, under shelves and in a spectacular tower on the floor beside my bed in the category 'to be read'.

Tonight my book group gathers here in the Dower House to discuss Mary Lawson's book 'Road Ends', set in Canada.
The cake has been baked, the house has been dusted and HL, still captivated by our new cordless vacuum cleaner, has run it over the floor.

Not only is it my turn to meet and greet, I have to select a book to be read for the next meeting. I look forward to seeing their faces when I suggest two- The Children Act by Ian McEwen and 'All the Light We Cannot See' by Anthony Doerr. The latter was wonderful not only in story content but in the shortness of the chapters, meaning that they corresponded entirely with my attention span when reading in bed.

I will not brook any dissent amongst the group- the chooser's choice is final.
