Casuarina by the Lake

I think these native trees would have to be one of my favourites. They are also known as sheoaks. They have long thin needle like foliage which makes the most magical soothing whispers in breezy weather. There is nothing I like better than sitting under these sheoaks by the Lake and having a picnic on a hot summer day listening to their whispers. Lake Macquarie Council have thoughtfully put a number of seats and benches for just such an occasion, one of which you can see here.
