Cultural diversion no1

Down in the big smoke for a couple of days. In the afternoon, we went the Ai Wei Wei exhibition at the Royal Academy. It was quite breathtaking.

There was a particularly moving piece called 'Straight' based on an earthquake in China with devastating consequences. Shoddy construction work meant that many buildings simply collapsed. Schools were particularly hard hit and very many young people died in the rubble of poorly constructed buildings. The work isn't just a moving memorial to them but an exposure of corruption.
