Dr John Bodkin Adams

I was at a talk last night at the Seaford Lecture and Literary Society. The topic was Eastbourne Police and Eastbourne Murders.  Dr bodkin Adams was the most notorious murderer:

"John Bodkin Adams was an Irish general practitioner, convicted fraudster and suspected serial killer. Between 1946 and 1956, more than 160 of his patients died in suspicious circumstances. Of these, 132 left him money or items in their wills."

These days forensic science might have pinned him down, but as it was he was fined £3000 for a prescribing offence.
