Bad House?

I have been having a few meetings in Manchester recently and because of its close proximity to Piccadilly Train Station the Malmaison is just the place to meet.  It is a strange place full of eclectic furniture which they keep moving around every few weeks or so - very odd...  But good service and a great location - just struck me today... does its name mean "Bad House"?
