Astray After the Storm

Here's today's beach find: a sea lion pup washed up with the king tide in front of the Boardwalk.It was a game little thing, trying to walk on its strange legs and seemingly attracted to anything else that moved, whether a lone pigeon or one of the guys that was trying to establish a safe perimeter til the animal rescue arrived.  It was awkward and endearing--I half expected it to speak to us in an indecipherable high-pitched language. I only hope they can care for it at the rescue facility. I read somewhere that they are overwhelmed with abandoned pups along the entire coast and may not be able to raise them all to adulthood.
