Winter at last

Flash has always liked winter and in particular snow. Today there was an extra inch or two in his step. He can't chase snowballs like he used to but he can roll about on his back for ages. Makes the temperature drop much more acceptable knowing he is happy.

Geese seemed to have had a good night.. When I opened up the ramp, they didn't come out. Left them for an hour and eventually had to chase them out. Snow threw them a bit at first - all but one were born this year and hadn't seen a "closed blanket" of snow on their field.

Was a lovely sunny day but remained freezing cold barely reaching 0°C. Although I had shut off the most important outdoor water pipes, I hadn't emptied many of the water containers which will mean some of the cheaper ones will have cracks. took the opportunity to do the pool winter preparation work. Have never left it this late but then we had +20°C a week ago. Saw a bit of Prince Charles on Sky talking about environmental issues. Think he should be listened to, especially in light of emotions about refugees - we ain't seen nothing yet, just wait till half of Africa is crossing the Med in rubber boats to flee the famines. In the 80's, we used to think Ethopia was a major event.

Extra photo is of farmer Blank getting the last of the muck spreading done. More about him to follow Wednesday.
