Strange Fruit.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away or so the saying goes.  I have never come across an apple anything like this one.  First I must point out this is not an exercise in photoshop jiggery pokery.  This is an ordinary supermarket apple just as it came out of the bag, well apart from my giving it a bit of a rub to make it shine for the shot.

The dividing line between the green/yellow and the red is straight and could have been drawn with a ruler.  It is also a neat segment from both ends of the apple.  I can offer no explanations as to why or how this happened.  For the record it is an English apple.
