Duncan Street
AKA The Holly and the Ivy
As advent gets earlier (it does officially start on Black Friday, right? Not he 1st December like it used to...), its time to get seasonal.
An office day - which means a chance to blip in town. Climbing buddy Al asked if I fancied a quick wander up Arthur Seat at lunchtime; I agreed on the proviso that we detoured on the return leg to nab a Cigs. As a man who likes a physical challenge he agreed, so.....
Off we went at quite a pace; ascending from the north in fine weather; down the other side to the Commie Pool and onto the mean streets of Newington. Duncan Street - the last one here to be done and the most tricky. It's red paint on a grey surface (undated; accompanied by Keft) so difficult to shoot in bright or dark light. So thankfully the sun vanished somewhere on the approach to Scottish Widows and the shot was done.
The holly tree was looking resplendent, berries all bright and festive. And then Ivy strode into shot, armed with a pile of Christmas cards under her arm, heading for the post office, keen to beat the last day posting deadline for Vanuatu and Fiji.
And with two minutes to spare, we strode in, back, alive and exhausted; ready for a productive afternoon.*
*Or not, depending.
