The Breaking News
Out straight after work to see ‘Breaking the News’ being recorded for Radio Scotland up at the Pleasance. I say see, but of course, I was really there to be recorded. Adding laughter, applause, occasional whistling and the even more occasional whoop. With a few hundred others of course. And it was much better than last time - this time the ‘straight’ guy was Kevin McKenna rather than Iain Macwhirter as it was last time. And Kevin can actually do humour.
After that we met up with a fine pair of blippers from up Shandon way and had a nosh and blether in some huge place up the Grassmarket on the site of the old Green Tree. Wood fired grill, craft beer and world whisky. Well, yes indeed. And huge wall mounted interior bar heaters. The electricity bill must be huge. Which matches the beer prices of course.
*politics alert*
What about this bombing of Syria? We talk of terrorists being cowardly. No, we are. Dropping bombs for 20,000 feet up. We want a fight? Well Cameron, get the loudmouths in there on the streets facing booby traps, snipers and roadside IEDs and clear ISIL out. Can’t be that difficult. And apparently the plum will win a vote for bombing this time, which as we all know, he didn't last time. Small inconvenient point - and what delicious irony - the last vote was of course for bombing the other side. Strewth.
