The Autograph.

This painting by M.Hanks, 1904, is one of many sketches in an old autograph book I have. I don't think it belonged to my family and I'm not sure where it came from. As a schoolgirl, autograph books were very popular and we would either write a verse or draw a picture in our friends books. Although the pages have faded, the drawings are a high standard and still look good. There are also 4 pages of signatures from the men who were in the armed forces 1914-18, who fought and lost their lives so that we could live in peace !
