Make mine a large one!
Today was the annual trip to the Christmas markets with my Mum; it gets more stressful every year, I swear she's getting worse.
Initially, it was going to be a family day out as my sister was going to come and bring the kids. However, she decided since it was Black Friday, it would be too busy and jibbed out.
It wasn't actually bad, nowhere near as busy as I expected for a Friday (we usually go midweek when it's quieter).
Mum really looks forward to our trip the the markets, but she's always really hard work sometimes.
She wanders off (which doesn't sound too criminal) but because she's deaf and has macular, she then gets lost and/or disorientated and it's a bugger for me to track her down. We agree on a meeting point in a store but she never sticks to it. She does this mad twirly thing when we are in a crowd which again just serves to disorientate her and despite having been to Manchester God knows how many times before, she always acts 'lost' when it's time to head back for the bus.
Being deaf also makes her come across as being quite rude to people; I cringe sometimes at the way she speaks to people! She gave a waitress a real death stare when the table next to us for their lunch first; I had to point out before she lynched the poor girl that they were only having salad, whereas our food had to be cooked.
I got nothing today that I wanted except stressed but I didn't want that either, so when they offered me a shot of rum in my gluhwein, I leapt at the chance!
Looks like I'll be venturing back again....this time on my own!
