Orange peel fungus (aleuria aurantia)
Just walking along on my daily hike down the muddy track across the farm when my eyes were drawn to this brightly coloured fungus. I had never seen it before. It must have suddenly sprung up. The info says it appears in the UK from August to early November on disturbed soil by woodland paths. Well the soil had been disturbed earlier in the summer when we were repairing field drains and it is also appearing near a wide ditch with old oak trees growing along its edge. Apparently it is a cup fungus although the shape tends to collapse the larger and older it becomes.
My extra picture is of the last or the first Primroses I found flowering today!
