A great night for photography fans

Most of the day was filled with David creating lots of art work for his course and me taking photos of him for evidence. A lovely lino print of a butterfly which he printed on to a real leaf was my favourite.
After dinner at Brewers fayre we went to a fantastic  event at Bogbain Farm. The event was organised by Ffordes, a photographic shop, in Beauly.
The warm up speakers were Charlie Phillips and Andy Howard to local wildlife photographers. Both spoke passionately about the animals they photograph and that special feeling you get when you come eye to eye with a wild creature, dolphins in Charlies case, Mountain Hares for Andy and for me with my pine marten. Amazing photographs and an insight to the effort taken to capture such amazing images. 7 hours sitting in the snow with a hare on the Cairngorm or 12 hours on a boat capturing photos of the dolphins. I do nt know how Charlie does it I find I get dizzy after a few hours at the Point.
Colin Prior followed with his fantastic panoramic images of Mountains. The lighting in some of his shots was spectacular. It must be wonderful to be on top of a mountain, especially the Cuillin at sunrise or sunset. He's in the process of making another book with photos likely to be in mono, we had a sneaky preview of some of the photos which looked great. He has been inspired by the book 'The Living Mountain, by Nan Shepherd.
The event took place in a barn which was beautiful but freezing. We saw the bands The Low Anthem and Broken Records there a few years ago and it was just as cold then. We came out to find a coating of snow on everything and a slippery journey on the way home. Snowing now so we'll be taking David to work tomorrow.
