'The Winter Tree'

The day started with beautiful sunshine and light...everything looked clear and sharp. After a leisurely start, we drove over to W.Sussex to visit Standen House Nat.Trust. The skies had changed by the time we arrived..but still dry. Coffee in the Barn....but we were disappointed that their wood burner stove was unlit...it was cold in there! Obviously nobody around to light it....which was a shame, as it was the first day of the Christmas decorations in the house.

In the courtyard stands 'The Winter Tree'...designed by Dame Zandra Rhodes and artist Andrew Logan. Hmmm....I'm saying nothing! It had very good live coverage on the Southern news during the week....a Robin has taken up residence in the tree..I couldn't believe it when he appeared on the top, singing his heart out to us. I had the wrong lens on unfortunately.

This tree is like Marmite..you LOVE it or HATE it!

The house looked beautiful, each room depicting different decades of Christmas at Standen...photos will probably pop up during the week if I struggle for a Blip. The weather became wild and wet....such a shame....we still thoroughly enjoyed our day!
