photography - but not as you know it
A fascinating lecture by Professor Rory Duncan and Dr Paul Dalgarno from the Institute of Biological Chemistry, Biophysics and Bioengineering at Heriot-Watt University, exploring the smallest aspects of our biological world. They discussed how new and amazing techniques in microscopy have emerged from a remarkable partnership between biology, physics, chemistry and engineering.
The challenge being to illuminate living cells to observe and record them but without the energy of the light illuminating them killing the cells.
