HMS Belfast and the City

Walking from London Bridge along the Thames I was struck by the contrast of this old warship.

Commissioned in 1939 it was one of the bombardment vessels on D Day.  Apparently the vibration of the guns were so strong that they cracked the crew's lavatories!

Contrast that with the City of London 76 years later.
