Latest drone

Here is the latest in sophistication in drone design. This one was designed in South Australia and built in Tasmania. It can hold a professional camera up to 5kgs in weight.  Shown is the Sony Alpha camera for display purposes.

This was at a special Sony new product release night that I attended today. The drone had nothing to do with Sony but the designers were there to show off their latest creation to the interested crowd. No idea as to price,  but it would be expensive, in the many thousands.

The extra photo is the historic Sony Betamovie camcorder, released in 1983. It was one of the very first domestic use camcorders. It was my first personal camcorder, purchased in 1984, and it was BIG in its overall size! I used it for several years, then traded it in for a much smaller camcorder, probably a Video 8. I had not seen one of these Betamovie units for about 30 years so it was fun to see one again.

The camera to interest me the most was the new Sony pro vidcam the PXW-FST which shoots in 4K quality. Something to think about when we have our next camera upgrade.
