Trafalgar Remembered

This model of HMS Victory rightly holds pride of place in the Royal Southampton Yacht club’s Trafalgar Room.
As Lord Nelson’s flagship, HMS Victory is probably the most famous warship ever. And while the original ship is preserved for posterity in Portsmouth’s historic dockyard, this reproduction model provides an appropriate touch at the Yacht Club where one of its principal meeting rooms is aptly name the Trafalgar Room.
And members still commemorate Trafalgar  Day, the celebration of Nelson’s victory over the French a and Spanish fleets at the Battle of Trafalgar on October 21.
When Past Commodore Wing Commander Gordon Agnew celebrated his Commodore’s Dinner this year in October, 210 years on from the famous sea battle, the clubhouse was dressed with flags overall both outside and inside.

After a formal reception and welcome, there was a splendid four course dinner, when each course related to the Trafalgar theme along with accompanying wines and port.

This expertly made reproduction of the actual ship provides a daily reminder to members of our maritime heritage.
