A view from Jeanneb

Farewell.

A quick visit to the beach after breakfast to say farewell to the Mediterranean and possibly the sun for a while.

The mountains were in the other direction but a bit indistinct in the morning light. They completely encircle the broad and fertile plain that is Antalya. Whilst there is lots of tourist development all around the bay (they are just building a Disney World and there are preparations for World Expo 2016) there is still lots of agriculture to be seen.

Pomegranates are one of the main crops, something that has been introduced relatively recently, and their orange Autumn coloured leaves on quite small trees can be seen all around the area - see extra. Everywhere you stop for a Turkish tea or coffee you can also get freshly squeezed pomegranate juice. The other major crop is tomatoes grown under polytunnels. These are mainly exported to Russia - oops!

Some of the holiday villages are also predominantly patronised but Russians so the economy of this area is under a big ? at the moment.

We are now home after battling with the evening traffic on the M62. We have enjoyed the experience of Turkey and seeing some of it's beautiful mountains and historic sights. We were lucky with really good weather in the last four days and even with the showers we had at the beginning of our week it has not been cold. It feels odd to be back to all the Christmas decorations and I must admit it has been nice to leave it behind for a week.

Thank you all for your stars and hearts for my little girl and the arch shadows yesterday. I was thrilled to see it quite high on the popular pages. Sorry I haven't commented for a week. I will try to catch up and back blip the days I have missed.
