Let the fun begin

As an Advent calendar traditionalist I stick with the picture variety.

I find that it's more... well, varied.

I mean with a chocolate calendar you know you're always going to get a chocolate but with the picture variety you could get (a picture of) anything: an apple, an angel, a ball, the baby Jesus - it's anybody's guess.
