Antics* at the Far de Cavalleria
*July challenge - letter A.
Among the rejects were #2S "standing on" #2D's hand, and #2D about to take a bite out of a black goat "in her palm". Well it keeps us amused...
Far (Lighthouse in Catalan) de Cavalleria is located in the Cape with the same name located near Fornells in Menorca.
The lighthouse was designed by Antonio Lopez and its construction was crucial due to the high amount of shipwrecks in the area caused by the Tramontana winds and his heavy storms.
This was a strategic point for all ships travelling from the Gibraltar strait to France, Italy or even the North of Africa.
The works were initiated in 1854 and were concluded in 1857. Started to operate in the 1st March of 1857.
The tower is 15 mts high and it´s built 94 mts above sea level.
The focus is bright and shows second order groups of two white lights every ten seconds reaching the maximum of 32 miles.
