IMPACT supports trusted local partners in 11 countries of Africa and Asia to implement projects to prevent and treat needless disability; to promote health; and, as a consequence, to ameliorate poverty.
Over a billion people (about 15% of the world's population), have some form of disability. Stark health inequalities and reasons of poverty lie behind the fact that 80% of disabled people live in developing countries.
We believe that no one should become or remain needlessly disabled through disease, lack of knowledge or shortage of medical services. Our vision is of a world free from needless disability.
The photo above shows a child who has undergone successful surgery in Tanzania; well on the path to recovery! Our local partner, The Plaster House in Arusha, provides operations for children from rural areas and then they recover in the homely environment of the 'Plaster House.'
More than 30 million lives transformed over the course of 30 years is proof that our straight-forward cost-effective action works. We are grateful to all of our supporters who power our programmes!
