Though I stopped properly Wombling years ago when I was able to afford my own screws, nails, woodstuffs and other hardware I've always kept my eye out for a nice bit of thick, proper rope; it crops up occasionally in skips or in the heaps of crap behind newly-constructed buildings but is usually spoiled by oil or made inflexible by alternate cement-dusting and rain. I don;t particularly need it for anything but some rope would be nice to have; I've some crap thin polypropylene stuff in a cupboard from when I discovered that there was a net and rope vendor in Horncastle but (though sufficiently strong to bear an human's weight) it's too thin for easy climbing and requires knotting for gripping.
