Snipe

Pretty grainy and cropped but it was very grey and distant. One of about 35 snipe in the breakwater of the Kirkwall Marina. They went up flew about and settled again quite quickly.
Today I was volunteering again (I'm so good!), this time at the Orkney College Archaeology Institute. Very basic work- cleaning stones and flint from a dig on Skye by Staffin Bay...see the extra photo- a basin, a chunk of flint and the hi-tec cleaning gadget which looks suspiciously like a child's toothbrush (because it is one).
