East Front of York Minster

Shopping in York this morning. On the way back the car noticed that the East Front had no scaffolding. It has cost £20 million and taken over 8 years to restore.

The centrepiece is the Great East window which has the largest expanse of medieval glass in the world. It has been removed and the damaged stonework replaced.

If you look carefully you may just make out St Peter sitting at the apex of the window.

To the right is William's college built in 1465 for Chantry Priests to be housed. It is said to be haunted and is now a venue for weddings.
