Barbara Branch

Today all Barbaras, Barbora in Czech, celebrate their name day. There is also a custom observed on the day of St. Barbara. We collect twigs of a fruit tree, preferably a cherry tree, place it in water and wait till the Christmas Day. If the Barbara Branch blooms it will bring the owner good luck. It originates as a Flower from the Jesse and can be used as a tribute to the Christ child and placed in the manger.
