December 5: steam engine
First some raking and then to Tampere to see an old steam locomotive.
Tk3 1136 "The Little Jumbo" steam locomotive did a special ride from Tampere to Nokia and back. We saw it arriving to Tampere railwaystation. I don't remember seeing a steam engine before. It was very impressive and beautiful old train! Then we had lunch and did grocery shopping. In the afternoon it started to rain quite heavily.
The Finnish VR Class Tk3 was a 2-8-0 light freight locomotive. It was the most numerous steam locomotive class in Finland with 161 built between 1927 and 1953. They were also widely used on main lines hauling slow passenger trains that made frequent stops. They were affectionately called "Pikku-Jumbo" (The Little Jumbo) because of their good performance despite their low weight.
The cars are wooden EFi passenger cars and carry 60 passengers per car. In total the whole train can carry 360 passengers as I might have forgot to edit the locomotive and tender passenger amounts.
