Holiday parade and local politics

We went to see the annual holiday parade downtown. It mostly features kids — local schools, Little League, kid clubs, scouts. There are always some groups there to make political statements. In this instance, a large local company gave free use of a parcel to a group of low income residents to have a community garden for an unspecified time. The company now wants to use the land for their business and boot out the garden. The city arranged a temporary compromise that gives the gardeners a portion of the parcel for a few more years. As the sign says, the residents want the entire parcel.
