Gollums Bedding Supplier?
I wonder if the Hazyland Gang, Denmarks most famous Blip Family, have Jysk as their appointed suppliers of bedding?
Seems that in most of the world the business is known as "Jysk" but in Germany it is called "Dänisches Bettenlager" (Danish Bedding Shop) and is Denmarks biggest retailer. I think the German operation is a franchise which covers Austria, Switzerland, italy, Spain and France as well as the 950 outlets in Germany.
Last year they started building a new logistic center near hear at Kammlach. A massive 60,000m² concrete block planted in the middle of a field. Environmentally I think it's dreadful BUT naturally it is bringing a few hundered jobs and filling the parish coffers. One of the disadvantages of parishes being direct recipients of large amounts of commercial taxes is that they encourage such things regardless of local environmental issues.
We need these things - I'm a passionate internet webshop buyer and I want my parcel within hours of pressing the "order" button but do they need to spring up in what is otherwise 100% agricultural land. Don't we have enough old building land that can be redeveloped?
On the employment front, our countys unemployment increased (seasonal) in November to 2.0% (1.8% for 15-24 year olds). That in effect is full employment - 1500 unemployed (190 of which under 25) with a total population of 139,000 is probably mainly "unemployable" people - the elder, handicapped and no doubt some "don't want to". Our very back of nowhere, agricultural county is the 4th best in Germany where the total unemployment is 6%.
Small & medium sized businesses are desperate to find apprentices and many crafttrades are threatened with a lack of newcomers. This situation helps to explain why Germany can soak up much of the current wave of refugees, many of whom, especially from Syria, are well educated and will ultimately only add to Germany's good fortunes. That doesn't mean its all plain sailing and boy are there big problems ahead but if we all keep our heads, it should be do-able and we have to make it do-able because it won't go away and will only increase unless we start to really get to grips, as a world community, with all the big issues.
Talking of big issues, I had gone to Kammlach after blowing loads of fuses on the Jeep, I think caused by a faulty trailer hitch unit. Had quickly gone to the equivalent of Halfords in Mindelheim and on the way home drove through Kammlach looking for a potential slaughter house for the geese. Found the commercial poultry farm and a young guy doing the evening check with his border collie! The hens are all free range and with the amazing sunset colours in the background, the chickens were happily still outside on the green grass field. Lovely sight and an environment all chickens deserve (my daughter posted the latest photos of battery chickens waiting to be adopted - featherless bags of bones - a disgrace to us humans).
Please note the goose that forms part of the Jysk (Dänisches Bettenlager) logo.and their special offer for goose feather filled duvets.
Then did a walk around the fields there withthe dogs, Luna yet again being quite friendly to the new BC. Things are improving.
Shortly after we got home in the dark, Angie arrived home after visiting the horse clinic - Sultan is back in his normal form - a cheeky, playful, always hungry stomach on 4 legs. All looking good for a return home this coming week. We have finally opted to bring him here and just hope we can get him to remain quiet. Means for the other two that they will also be restricted in their time on fields but if the weather currently over the British Isles comes this way, there won't be much of that anyway.
Hope you Blipers in non-continental Europe stay safe.
