On Days Like These
Evening all.
Last night when I went to bed at 0300 it was still raining ferociously.
The big bad wolf of weather was battering our little straw sanctuary again and the bruised and swollen rivers had just about overwhelmed every flood defence put in their way.
The villages are drowned, roads in and out have become concrete river beds, impassable to even the hardiest vehicles, the convoy of abandoned cars now a flotilla of wrecked ships and sodden insurance claims paper the pavements....
and today,
we need to decide:
do we take the opportunity of the spaces inbetween the showers and flee to the higher and firmer ground of home if we can, or do we wait another day in the hope that 24 hours more will bring better weather and better roads whilst we eke out or limited supplies of food and heat.
choices indeed.
a wise woman once wrote adventures aren't fun when you're having them, only later, in the safety of reflection and hindsight, do they take that form.
we are having adventures indeed.
night all
