The Press

Continuing to experiment with my Victorian book press. The main issue is getting the packing material - which fits between the printing block and the moveable plate on the press - just right. Too little and you can't apply sufficient pressure, too much and the pressure will be too great. I've tried various combinations of MDF, newspaper and rectangles cut from an old woollen blanket. It looks like the MDF plus anything up to four pieces of blanket is the best combination.
