The ageing process

Up at my mum's trying to fix her solar heating. I thought it was a sensor so took a couple of pairs of modern things I'd bought on eBay. Neither worked. Managed to dig an old one out of the brass slug and found the number so ordered NOS (rare!) on eBay.
Mum seems to be getting forgetful nowadays. No fun getting old.
