Wild Thing

Spent a couple of hours this morning at Sweetwater Wetlands Park here in Gainesville. I was fortunate to be close enough to this wild stallion to get the shot. I've seen him making his rounds several times before but never got a decent photo. Here's another blip of him and one of his mares...Stallion. Paynes Prarie State Preserve is home to several small herds of wild horses and bison. The bison were native to the area and when the Spanish arrived in what is now Florida back in the 1500's, they found great herds of American Bison. The horse herds are decedents of horses brought to this land by the Spanish.
