Boy Bishop
Tonight is St Nicholas night and we celebrate this in Alcester with the parade of the Boy Bishop.
It would be nice to say that this is a tradition going back to the middle ages but I'm afraid that in Alcester it only goes back to 2003 but there are Boy Bishop celebrations that go back a lot further.
Jane and I were lucky to go up the (St Nicholas) church tower and we both took loads of shots from up there. Jane has blipped a shot of the high street and I shot a picture the other direction that I have uploaded as an extra.
There was a good fireworks display to end the evening and in the middle we killed time over an excellent pint in The Three Tuns
The news from Keswick and the rest of Cumbria is terrible. Fortunately our cottage is high and dry but rebuilding the local infrastructure will take a long time - not to mention those poor people whose houses have been flooded for the second time in six years.
