After church ...
The Rectory cat wanders down the track from the church in a quiet, sunny interval this morning when the sky looked as if it had never been grey, never poured water to drip into the church. Most of the congregation are still within, drinking coffee and chatting; some are discussing the finer points of welcoming at the door. The whole scene looks peacefully rural, and later there will be Evensong - an old-fashioned, Prayer Book Evensong with plainsong psalms and canticles and intoned prayers.
Do not be fooled for a moment. Tomorrow it will rain again, and the wind will rattle the slates on this exposed Victorian building on its hill overlooking the Firth of Clyde. And the cat? If it has any sense it will be sitting near a radiator, back in the Rectory ...
