Greenock Radicals
A change from the usual visit to Greenock view of Argyll & Bute from Custom House Quay/the Beacon.
On 8 April 1820, during the Radical War (the Scottish Insurrection) a group of Radical prisoners were freed from Greenock's jail through a violent, and deadly, intervention by townspeople. Eight died - aged between 8 and 65. The memorial was unveiled a couple of months ago. I rather like it, and I like that this important little bit of history is being told.
I would also like a few more trees behind this sculpture. Or a wall. Anything to block out the cars! See extra photos for a different view.
