Joking aside, no matter how many copies I've seen, I found the real thing breathtaking and oddly moving.

Later we walked up to the Forte de Belvedere and back by the Palazzo Pitti. The views back over Florence were hazy and will need some fiddling on photoshop. Tonight the Professor insists on taking me out for a special birthday meal, as if I hadn't been spoiled enough already.

I found out today that Lorenzo the Magnificent (the gorgeous hotel cat) is actually called Pino, which seems a rather commonplace name. I tried to capture his image today, but he was fast asleep.
