Digitally Zoomed Pigeon

I spent most of my 2 hour train trip home from Sydney today exploring some more of the options on my camera.

One thing I discovered was the x2 digital zoom.
Now I know digital zoom is a bit frowned upon, but I couldn't resist trying it out.

I snapped this pigeon as I walked past with the macro lens set to the non-macro option and the zoom applied.
I love how the lens can perform so well out of macro mode.

And I can't resist posting an extra of yet another bug, this time taken with the macro on x2 zoom.
Let's you maintain a bit more distance. Will be handy for spiders.
