Ali Pasha Tepelena Fortress
Lots of hours spent on a very hot and sticky bus today so not too many photographs taken. However, our first stop on the road from Butrint was at Ali Pasha Tepelena Fortress. It was a very dark inside, with only a few spots here and there to light up the beautiful stone. A few other pictures taken inside here.
We then set off on the drive along the Adriatic coast from Saranda towards Ionian Sea and climb up 1027m to Llogara National Park. It is a spectacularly scenic route, with views of the mountains, sea and black pine forest. I had wished we had more time to stop off at some of the more unspoilt coastal villages, which would have been a good antedote to Saranda's Foam Party Night Clubs.
We stayed within the new complex in the National Park that was surrounded by pine. Got particularly attached to the sound of cow bells clinking outside my bedroom window, as the dairy cows were definitely free range.
